Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) Class

  (864) 630-1883

A one day South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) class certified by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).   Classes are held the second Saturday of each month .   The total cost of the class is $85.00.  You may reserve a seat in a class by mailing your full payment:   Mail-in Reservation  or using:  Credit Card Reservation  Class will begin promptly at 8:00 AM.  Students are required by law to attend the entire eight hours.  Note;  payments are not refundable, however with advance notice, a student can be rescheduled for another date.  Reschedule   Upcoming dates

All military service men and women who have served in the mid-east theater of war since 2001 can take this training free by presenting a copy of their DD-214 form in advance.  Please refer to this link for more details:  Free CWP Class

The cost of the Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) class includes the use of a gun and holster ( S&W Mod 64, 38 spl), ammo, copies and fingerprints taken by a highly experienced SLED certified fingerprint technician.  Students may use their own center fire semi-auto pistol or center fire double action revolver.  If you use your own gun you will need to furnish 50 rounds of ammo.  If you are using your own semi-auto pistol you must be able to load the magazine correctly and quickly and lock the slide to the rear while the muzzle is pointed at a 45 degree angle in front of you.  No rimfire guns (22's) will be used in this class.  Read this link if you want to use your personal handgun:  Personal Handguns  Ammo is limited to standard velocity, commercially manufactured, ball type.  No handloaded or reloaded ammo or magnum or +P ammo will  be used in the class.  A strong side hip holster is helpful but not required.    Considering purchasing a handgun for concealed carry?   Buying a Handgun

Note:  It is very easy for students to pick up the skills necessary to shoot a qualifying or better score.  The problem comes from students who lack enough strength in the hands and forearms to be able to grip the handgun tightly and pull the trigger smoothly without disturbing the alignment with the target.  This problem cannot be corrected during the class.  It can only be corrected at home by doing some grip and forearm exercising before coming to the class.  Defending your life requires strength and quick reflexes.

Our Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) classes are conducted in an indoor, climate controlled classroom with restrooms for men and women and on an outdoor range (See Photo page). Students should dress according to the weather and also plan for possible changes which might occur . Jeans with a stout belt to support a holster is always a good choice.  Do not wear open toe shoes or low cut shirts which might leave exposed skin open to hot brass and sun. Hats with bills or brims are helpful in providing extra protection . Hearing and eye protection will be furnished or you may use your own .

Safety is  our main concern at the range . Do NOT bring any loaded firearms to the range.   Do NOT remove any firearm from your vehicle until told to do so . All range rules will be followed by all students at all times .  You are responsible for firearm safety !!

Students are encouraged to bring soft drinks and snacks for the day; a refrigerator is available.  Domino's will deliver a one topping pizza for lunch or you may bring your own lunch.  Water and/or coffee will be provided .  For common courtesy and health considerations, No Tobacco products will be permitted on the range property .

If you need an individual Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) class, or a special class please call to make arrangements.  The cost of a week day individual class is $120.00 per student, up to three students.  More than three students the cost will be $85.00 per student.

Directions to the range can be viewed on the Map to Range page.  I strongly suggest that you print a copy of the map to bring with you. Smart phone maps are often so small that the detail cannot be seen clearly and GPS's often give wrong directions in rural settings.  The physical address for the range is:  118 Stewart Gin Road, Liberty, SC 29657.

At the end of the training day students will have everything needed to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit except the $50.00 fee paid to SLED.  They will add a $50.00 bank check or money order made payable to SLED and mail their packet within three years of the date of the training.  The permit is good for four years.

Former students are always welcome to attend future Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) classes to update or refresh their training at no additional cost.
