ADVANCED CONCEALED WEAPONS COURSE

Purpose: To provide the average CWP holder the opportunity to increase their shooting skills through the use of tactical drills.

This four hours course will be held on the third Saturday of every month in 2011 from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. The cost of the course is $120.00, payable in advance. Each class will be limited to five students.

Requirements: Each student will provide proof of prior shooting experience such as a CWP, CWP Training Certificate or classification card from NRA, IDPA, or USPSA. Each student must be able to perform all loading, unloading, and safety functions with the gun pointed at a 45-degree angle to the front.  Each student will provide the following:

A quality center fire pistol or revolver with three mags or speed loaders
A quality leather or kydex type strong side hip holster
A pouch for mags or speed loaders
A quality leather belt at least 1¼” wide
300 rounds of commercial, standard velocity, ball ammo
Hat with a bill or brim worn forward
Concealment garment-over shirt, vest, or jacket
Long pants supported with a belt (see above)
High collar shirt that fits close around the neck (like a tee shirt)
Hearing protection of your choice
Wrap around eye protection
Hydration system or water bottles to have on the range
Range bag for carrying equipment on and off range
Appropriate outdoor weather gear

The course will include firearm safety, drawing from a holster, flash sights, tactical reloads, identifying a threat, assessing a threat, move to a threat, using cover to engage a threat, and using strong/weak hand to engage a threat.

Note: Even a quality gun may not be appropriate for shooting several hundred rounds in a short period of time i.e. light or small guns. Also, quality firearm will not make up for lack of basic skills with a particular gun.
