New Course!  Advanced Concealed Weapons Course:  A four hours class for CWP holders who want to increase their shooting skills.  Click on link for more information.

Free CWP Class:  All soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who have served in the mid-east theater of war since 2001 can take my scheduled CWP Class free of charge by showing a copy of their DD-214 form in advance of the class.  You can use your own approved gun and ammo or pay $15.00 to use our range gun and ammo.  Also, you may provide your own fingerprints or have our fingerprint technician take them at the class for $15.00.  Please submit your check for the services you need with your reservation form and DD-214.

Update Training:  Former students are always welcome to attend future classes to refresh or update their training at no additional cost.   Also, there is no charge for using your own gun and ammo on the range; however, former students may only fire on the last relay and then only if space is available.

Update 2006:  Protection of Persons and Property Act (Chapter 11, Title 16, Article 6)
This law provides that there is no duty to retreat if: (1) The person is in a place where he has a right to be, including the person’s place of business, (2) the person is not engaged in any unlawful activity, (3) the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent death, great bodily injury, or the commission of a violent crime. Qualified Non-resident Concealed Weapons Permit: A qualified non-resident is an individual who owns real property in South Carolina, but who resides in another state. A qualified non-resident must take the same CWP training as a South Carolina resident, complete the same application process and payment as well as submitting aForm 168 (9/06) completed by the County Assessor where the real estate property is located.

CWP Renewals:  CWP's expire at mid-night on the expiration date shown on the permit.  It is unlawful to carry a concealed weapon after the expiration of the permit.  CWP holders may renew their permits online but not more than 90 days prior to their expiration date nor more than 60 days after their expiration date:   Renew online

To renew by mail submit the following:

        Completed South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit Application

        Copy of your South Carolina Driver's License showing current address

         Copy of your Concealed Weapons Permit

         Bank Check or Money Order for $50.00 made payable to SLED

Mail to:  CWP Application, SLED Data Center, P. O. Box 21398, Columbia, SC 29221-1398

Note:  Retraining is required if the CWP has expired more than 60 days.

Lost or Stolen CWP and Change of Address:  Permit holders must notify SLED immediately if their permit is lost or stolen.  Permit holders must notify SLED within 10 days of a change of address.  Complete the Concealed Weapons Permit Duplication/Replacement Form: Concealed Weapons Permit Duplication/Replacement Form

Reciprocity:  Oklahoma has been added to the states with which South Carolina has reciprocity making seventeen states in all. South Carolina now has reciprocity with Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Concealed Carry in Georgia:  Georgia does NOT recognize South Carolina's Concealed Weapons Permits.  If you want to carry in Georgia you can get a New Hampshire Non-resident Pistol Permit.  To get the New Hampshire Non-resident Pistol Permit you first must have your South Carolina CWP, then complete the form on this link:  http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp/ssb/permitslicensing/documents/dssp260.pdf .  Fill out the form online, print it out, sign it, and mail it in with a copy of your SC CWP and a check for $100.00.

Public Shooting Ranges:  Pickens County Range - From Easley, take SC Hwy. 8 approximately 4 miles towards Pickens. Turn left on Breazeale Road. Drive ½ mile beyond SC Dept. of Transportation Maintenance Shop and turn left on Porter Road. Go approximately ½ mile, turn left at the red gate. The range is located at the end of the gravel road.  From Liberty and points south and west:  From the intersection of Hwy 93 (Main St) and Hwy 178 in Liberty, go North on Hwy 178 to the first traffic light.  Turn right onto Breazeale Road and go 1.5 miles.  Turn right onto Porter Road and follow the above directions to the range
