STUDENT'S PERSONAL HANDGUNS
It is my intention to allow students to use their personal guns and ammo when possible but for safety considerations it is necessary to put the following restrictions on the use of personal guns: Personal hundguns must be either a center-fire, double action revolver or a center fire semi-automatic-no rimfire (22's) are permitted during qualification The student must know how to operate and be able to perform all necessary functions in a safe manner-charge the magazine, load the gun, lock the slide to the rear and/or correct a malfunction. The student must have fired the gun recently so they know that the gun and ammo combination works dependably-the student will be switched to a range gun after the second malfunction. No Magnum or Plus P ammo will be permitted. Small, pocket type handguns will not be permitted on the range during qualification-Some examples of these guns are; Kel-Tec P32, P3AT, Ruger LCP, All North American Arms, All .25 ACP handguns to name a few. No semi-auto handguns will be permitted during qualification that the slide does NOT lock to the rear after the last round is fired from the magazine-Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP, Some Hi-Point models, Some S&W early Sigma models. No single action revolvers will be used during qualification-A single action revolver must have the hammer manually cocked before firing. On the range SAFETY is the major concern. While many of the guns above make excellent concealed carry guns they are not always appropriate for the firing line when a number of other students are firing at the same time. Their small size makes it difficult for the Range Officer to see that the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction at all times. If you want to take your training with one of the guns listed or a new gun that you are not familiar with then arrange for a private class and I will be happy to work with you individually.
